Preview: Thursday, March 22nd, 5pm at EX Adult Store, Bertrams, Johannesburg

 

Since January 2012 artists from South Africa and Germany have been working with local residents on a portrait of the neighborhood of Bertrams. For the project a former adult store at the Bertrams Spar was turned in to a print studio and film lab. The "EX Adult Store" was the base for working in Bertrams. Residents of Bertrams and visitors are invited to look at the gathered materials before the editing will start. The workshop will close at the end of March 2012. The preview will include photography by Sabelo Mlangeni, 16mm film by Thomas Heise and students from HFG Karlsruhe (Germany) and printmaking/intervention by Anna Busdiecker, Lehlohonolo  Dhlameni, Senzo Shabangu, Mark Thomann,Tshepo Rakosa and Jabu Tshuma created in cooperation withlocal artists and residents from Bertrams.

 

Special performance: Pantsula dance and puppets

 

A complete exhibition of the material is expected to be shown in Johannesburg, Berlin and Karlsruhe at the end of 2012 / beginning of 2013.
